Many couples have a romantic ceremony at the beach with less than twenty guests and a second reception back home a month later for the friends and family that couldn’t make it to the beach.
This will help control costs and give you time to have your video ready to show at the party + you may get another round of gifts!
The sun rises out of the ocean and sets on the bay. The bayside is private property and must be rented in advance. The beach on the ocean is free.
If you want the beach entirely to yourself, we recommend a sunrise wedding. The sand is cool on the toes and the red sun rising out of the ocean is absolutely majestic. With the exception of the occasional old man with a metal detector or young couple in a lifeguard chair, the beach will be all yours!
With the climate change, beach wedding season is nearly year round. It starts getting busy around St. Patrick’s Day and goes strong until Thanksgiving. We enjoyed seventy degree weather during this St. Patty’s Day Ceremony.
The Ocean City Inlet offers panoramic views of the ocean, bay, Assateague Island and the iconic Ocean City skyline.
Stay for a week and combine your wedding & honeymoon.
OC has a spectacular array of special events: Springfest, Sunfest, Wine on the Beach, Bike Week, Cruiser Week, and the OC Airshow to name a few.
Ceremonies are allowed on the beach but receptions are not. Alcohol is not permitted on the OC beach. Amplified microphones are also not permitted on the beach. The number one wedding day regret of surveyed couples was not getting a video. Beach Wedding pictures are wonderful, but adding video gives you the 4D experience- you can hear the Ocean!
Some brides get an extra hour of photos before the ceremony and then “trash the dress” right after the wedding and then go out for a crab feast to celebrate. This couple had some amazing images!
Some couples dress formal while others opt for beach casual or even sunglasses. Some wear military attire and one bride’s dream was to get married on the beach in her bikini!

Some couples come down for a “Delmarva Bike Week Wedding” in the second week of September. Some Hotels have built in props- check out the Bouncy House & Pirate Ship. Many hotels will give you a discount and block off 10 rooms or more for your wedding.
Thinking of using your cat or dog as a ring bearer? Leashed Pets are allowed on the public beach from October 1st until April 30th each year. The Clarion Hotel owns its own beach and pets are allowed on the beach if the hotel approves it. This Doggie was an integral part of an Ocean City Beach Wedding.

Most beach brides walk the aisle in bare feet or beachy sandals. In the past ten years we have had four brides attempt to walk the sand in high heels- only one made it all the way down to the archway. Be comfortable and have fun!
Ocean City has at least two designated surfing beaches each day during the summer. The designated beaches rotate daily.
If you are having a large wedding party (over a dozen bridesmaids and groomsmen), you may want to consider scheduling a rehearsal.

We recommend having your Wedding Ceremony as near to where you are staying as possible- that way you’ll have access to a mirror, bathroom and air conditioning up until the last possible moment.
If you are wearing a veil on the beach during your ceremony, make sure your maid of honor or someone in your bridal party has pins to help keep it in place if there is a breeze.
Make sure to have a healthy breakfast on the day of your wedding so you’ll have plenty of energy for the ceremony and reception photos!
Many brides like to hit the spa or have their hair and makeup done on the day of their wedding. There are also mobile services available which may be ideal if you’re having a sunrise wedding ceremony.
It’s usually best to have a local business take care of your flowers and Wedding Cake. Some Grooms prefer to have their pre wedding shave handled by a professional.
