Rehoboth Beach Delaware is a bustling year round beach community just north of Dewey and south of Lewes. It’s iconic boardwalk and outstanding restaurants make it a popular tourist destination.
Rehoboth Beach weddings may be conducted outside of normal lifeguard hours (9-5 during the summer season). The most popular times are sunrise and sunset. A weekday or early morning ceremony is the easiest path to an intimate experience. A permit is required from the Town of Rehoboth to conduct a Wedding on the Beach. The fee is $175. You may submit the application for a Rehoboth Beach Wedding permit online. Please contact the City Manager to receive your ceremony application. A Marriage License from the Sussex County Clerk’s office is necessary for a Rehoboth Beach Wedding ceremony to be valid. The easiest way to apply for your Sussex County DE Marriage License is online.
Beach wheel chairs are available 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day through Labor Day. They are located at Maryland Avenue and the Boardwalk, and Laurel Street and the Boardwalk. They are located on the beach and cannot be removed from the beach. They’re available on a first come, first serve basis and are free to the public. Rehoboth Parking meters are in effect from Memorial Day weekend until the second Monday following Labor Day, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. till midnight. All thirty-minute parking meter zones remain posted and are in effect for the entire year.
Rehoboth Beach is an LGBT hotspot. Delaware’s adoption of same sex marriage laws has promoted a spike in the resorts wedding ceremonies and receptions.
In September of 2013 The Delaware Shore was selected by “Where to Retire” magazine as one of “America’s 100 Best Places to Retire.” In 2012 and 2013 Rehoboth Beach was awarded with a “5 Star” award for clean water as well as ranking in the Top 10 Best U.S. Beaches for Families in the nation by the Family Vacation Critic.
The Sea Witch Halloween Festival is the pearl of Rehoboth Beach’s Fall event calendar.
It is illegal for dogs to run unleashed at any time. The City has both a leash law and a pooper scooper law which are enforced. Dogs are prohibited from the beach and boardwalk from May 1 through September 30.
Rehoboth Beach has a year round population of about 1500 which swells to over 25,000 during the peak summer weekends. The best rates for hotels can be had on weekdays and during the offseason.
The town is nicknamed the “Nations Summer Capital” due to the large influx of guests from the DC area in June, July & August.

Dewey Beach, DE Weddings
Dewey Beach is situated just south of Rehoboth and about 15 minutes north of downtown Bethany Beach. A charming seasonal resort, Dewey has clean smoke free beaches and was awarded “Superstar” Beach Status” by the Natural Resources Defense Council in 2011.
If you are having a Wedding on the Beach, a $100 permit is required. As a courtesy, please contact the Dewey Beach Town Manager at 302-227-6363 or simply submit this Dewey Beach DE Wedding Permit application. Guests are required to display a parking permit in most areas.
Sunrise weddings are on the ocean side beach. The sun sets on the bay, which is all private property. A wedding on the beach followed by a reception or dinner on the bay would give you wonderful diversity for your photo and video.
If you are planning a Dewey Beach Wedding, you’ll need to acquire your Marriage License from the Sussex County Clerk’s office.
Dewey Beach is about one mile long and two blocks wide. The year round population of around 300 swells to nearly 30,000 during the summer months.
Dewey Beach is “Dog Friendly”. If you’d like your pup to be a part of your Beach Wedding, they are welcome before 9:30 AM in the morning and after 5:30 PM during the summer. A Dogs license must be obtained at Town Hall or the Dewey Beach Visitor Center. Daily, weekly and seasonal permits are available. Handlers must clean up after their pets. Doggy bags are available at each street end at the entrance to the beach. The Greyhounds in Dewey Beach event takes place in April.
The Dewey Beach Music Conference is the last weekend of September. This event began in 2002 and has been a huge draw for unsigned bands from all over the country.
Dewey Beach is the location of the annual East Coast Skim boarding Championships in mid-August.
