Can you get married on Ocean City MD’s Stinky Beach?
Yes, there really is a “Stinky Beach” and you can have a wedding there. Located at the Gudelsky Park in West Ocean City, this quiet beach has been popular with locals for decades. Nestled on the west side of the OC inlet, it has a beautiful view of the Ocean City inlet and the amusement park rides. The easiest way to get there form Ocean City is to exit town across the Route 50 bridge. Turn left onto Golf Course Road and then make onto Old Bridge Road. Drive a half mile and Stinky Beach will be on your left. Couples getting married on Stinky beach will need a Worcester County Marriage License.
Is Stinky Beach nice for Weddings?
It’s one of the few pet friendly beaches in the area. If you’d like a dog in your wedding during the summer, this is one of your best options. It can get crowded and there is very limited parking. There are no hotels at Stinky Beach and wedding and receptions are frowned upon. If you have a large number of guests, we recommend hiring a shuttle and having your reception at one of Ocean City’s best wedding venues.
Do you need a Permit to get Married on Stinky Beach?
Stinky Beach does not require a beach wedding permit but decorations should be minimal as this is located in a residential community. The best time of year for weddings on West Ocean City’s Stinky Beach is early spring and late fall. An ordained wedding minister is required to perform any legal ceremony in the state of Maryland.
